On Wednesday, April, 8, "Ventspils" played another Latvian championship match home against Ventspils team FC "Tranzit". The match ended by the draw 1:1. Vits Rimkus scored the opening goal for FK "Ventspils", but the "Tranzit" boys not only defended their goal during 90 minutes, but also managed to organize a swift attack and Vladimirs Mukins scored. FK "Ventspils" lost 2 points unexpectedly, but as we all know the eternal truth - everything is possible in football.

On Sunday, April 5, FK "Ventspils" played another Latvian championship match home against team from Rezekne "Blazma". The yellow-and-blue suddenly conceded a goal on the first minute of the match, but replied with 5 scoring shots during the game and won by 5:1!

On Friday, February 13, FK "Ventspils" traveled to the training camp in Turkey. The weather conditions were not that pleasant but this could not stop the team from the hard and fruitful work and friendly matches where the chief coach Roman Grygorchuk could test the players and analyze the potential of newcomers as well as build the most suitable formatons for the different line-ups.

"Ventspils" continue to prepare for the new season and is working hard on transfer issues. Three times Latvian champions have reached the agreement with the midfielder of Latvian national team Alexey Vishnyakov. One of the best Latvian side midfielders has signed 2 year contract with the yellow-and-blue. 25 year old player was one of the team "Skonto" leaders for several years and now he moved to "Ventspils" being under the free agent status. Aleksey Vishnyakov has played 34 matches in Latvian national team and scored 4 goals. In the Latvian championship the midfielder played 163 matches and scored 33 goals.

FK Ventspils at the Commonwealth Cup in Moscow

FK "Ventspils" soon after the training camp in Lithuania began its participation in the Commonwealth Cup in Moscow. First of all FK "Ventspils" had to win the group stage which consisted of three matches against FC "Inter" from Finland, FC "Dordoi-Dinamo" from Kyrgyzstan and FC "Inter" from Azerbaijan. The group stage was successfully accomplished and FK "Ventspils" played in 1/4 final against FC "Sheriff" from Moldova and unfortunately lost the game after the series of penalty kicks, which has already become a tradition because this is the third time in a row when the yellow-and-blue end their participation in the Commonwealth Cup after the penalty kicks series.

FK "Ventspils" continues to prepare for the new season. Some days ago the team went to the training camp in Lithuania. During the trainig camp FK "Ventspils" planned to play some friendly matches against Lithuanian teams.
