On Thursday, November, 25th, football players of  "Ventspils", vice-champions of Latvia and the winners of the Baltic league, have officially finished this game year. And have gone on vacation! The President of  FK "Ventspils" Yury Bespalov has thanked the team for a difficult and interesting season, fairly naming it as not shining, but as good one, and has wished football players much greater progress next year. FK Ventspils are the champions of TrioBet Baltic League 2009/2010 after overcoming S?duva on penalties in a thriller final which took place last Sunday in Marijampol?. Ventspils almost had the trophey in their hands both in normal time (1:1) and in extra-time (3:3), but twice S?duva managed a remarkable recovery in the last seconds to drive the match to the penalty shoot-out (5:3).

Yet another season of TrioBet Baltic League has passed and we are left with nothing else but anticipation of this seasons grand finale determine the club worthy of the champions title in year 2011. FK  Ventspils - Skonto FC!  The final game is scheduled on Saturday, 18 of June (16:00). 

On Wednesday, April 14, FC "Ventspils" team have played quarterfinal match of the Cup of Latvia. Nunzio Dzavetteri squad at the early stage of the tournament met its arch-rivals R?ga’s FC "Skonto". In the intense struggle, in which teams were worth of each other, in the series of penalty kicks after the match, good luck accompanied “skonties”. No goals were scored during the both halves and extra time, and in the series – the lottery that consisted of 14 (!) kicks defender Ritus Krauklis was the most unlucky one as sent the ball in a crossbar. That is insulting, but that is football. Such failures only temper, as in a whole "Ventspils" in any way also deserved to be in the semi-final. Go go, Ventspils!

On Saturday, April 10, FC "Ventspils" football players have spent the first round of the championship of Latvia. In starting game the team of Nunzio Dzavetteri in out match met FC "Jelgava" which debuted in the Virsliga. The game passed in the R?ga Olympic centre, has turned out predictably persistent and intense, but, that’s important, has ended with a strong-willed victory of the yellow-blues with 2:1. Winning goals were made by forward Sergey Shumilin and halfback Jury Zhigaev. The first step was victorious, and now it is the most important! Go forward, "Ventspils"!

Since January 18, FK "Ventspils" has been travelling to the training camps to go through the neccessary and fruitful preparation for the season of 2010, which basically starts in April.

On December 16, FK "Ventspils" played their final match in Europa League group stage. However, the yellow-and-blue, did not manage to get into the next round but they have done a great job and had the great season. The captain of FK "Ventspils" Yevgeny Kosmachov was given the title of the best player in Latvia (U-21).
